Library

Photos must be imported into the Library in order for you to begin working with them, whether they are imported directly form a digital camera, hard drive, memory card, etc.
When importing you can you can move or copy files into specific folders or reference them in their current location. Here you can rename files, embed metadata and keywords and even back them up to a different folder.

Develop

This module includes controls for adjusting color and tonal scale. All adjustment made here are non-destructive, whether it is camera raw or a rendered file like jpeg or tiff. This means that Lightroom saves the setting to a particular image but does not apply them, giving you the freedom to explore without degrading the quality of your image.

Some of the tools Included in the Develop Module:

  • Interactive adjustment right inside the histogram
  • Tone Curve and HSL/color/grayscale for color correction
  • Split Toning for colorizing monochrome images or creating special effects for color images
  • Lens Correction for correcting chromatic aberration and distortion caused by the lens

This module makes it very easy to produce a custom slideshow complete with music and transitions. You can use preset templates or create your own type of slide show and save them as your own template for repeated use. The control panels let change the background, orientation of your images, colors, slide duration and even an identity plate.

Slideshows can even be exported as pdf presentation to be view on other computers, however music will not export. So if you wish to play music, it will need to be done inside Lighroom.

Print

This module lets you specify the page layout and print options for printing photos and contact sheets on your printer. You can use premade templates and modify them to your needs and even save them as your own custom templates.

Web

This module will generate a web photo gallery from photos you select which will include small thumbnails which will link to larger versions. These galleries can be exported as a standard HTML or saved for viewing using the Adobe Flash Player. Once completed the files can be uploaded directly to a web server using the FTP capabilities in Lightroom.
