Carhenge, my favorite Nebraska landmark. It was conceived by Jim Reinders and constructed, with the help of his family (and perhaps a few refreshing beverages), in the summer of 1987. I used to have a photo of it up on the wall near the desk of our bookstore and, believe it or not... a few years ago, an Englishwoman who was in our shop studied the picture for a moment or two, then looked at me and said, quite seriously: "Do you know that we have something very much like this in England?"
